I made a bunch of these yummy peppermint lip balms for Christmas and I have to say, they were quite the success! If you know me at all, the dressing up of my DIY is just as important as the contents inside, so I designed these cute labels to go with them. You can buy a tube of lip balm at the market for $3-$4 and it probably has ingredients on it you can’t even pronounce. With these I accomplish 2 things: I spend about 25 cents to make these and I only use ingredients in them that I know won’t harm me or my family. Double score. WOOT. Now, does the brand of essential oil matter? Why yes it does! I can only recommend Young Living. If you want to know more about that you can read more here.
Peppermint Lip Balm
Here’s what you’ll need to make about 12-15 lip balm tubes:
- 1 Tbs Organic Beeswax Pellets
- 3 Tablespoon Organic Coconut Oil
- 4 drops Vitamin E
- Lip Balm Tubes
- 8-10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Melt beeswax and coconut oil in a double boiler. Remove from heat. Add peppermint essential oil and gently stir. Quickly add mixture to empty lip balm tubes with a dropper. It hardens quickly, so work fast. Allow to cool to for about an hour before putting the lid on.
When completely cool, add the cute labels and voila!
You can add your personal information on the label if you’d like. It’s such a nice touch!
I have a lip balm (or two) in my purse, in my car, by my nightstand and in the kitchen. You just can’t have enough lip balm! And I gave away many at Christmas too. My son’s teachers love them!
