My son made these super cute luminaries from tin cans at his cub scout meeting last night. They are so easy! You just need empty tin cans, a hammer, a nail, and a template.

Take a clean empty tin can washed with the label pulled off. Fill with water and put in the freezer to harden. This will make it easier to hammer the nail through.

Print out whatever image you want to imprint on your can. Use a sharpie to make dots about 1/4 inch apart, making sure to have a dot in each place the lines meet. Tape stencil to the can and simply hammer a hole into each dot with a nail. I put a towel on the floor to help stabilize the can.

7Remove the stencil to reveal the shape. Make sure you didn’t miss a spot.

Drop a small candle in the middle and voila!
